Kevin St. Clair began his yachting career in 1997 in Norfolk, Virginia, working in the engine room as Assistant Engineer aboard the 153-foot yacht featured in two Hollywood blockbuster films, Overboard and Indecent Proposal. In 1998, he completed his first transatlantic crossing aboard the same yacht.
Over the following years, Kevin worked his way through the ranks, serving as an assistant engineer, deckhand, first mate, captain, and captain/engineer. His responsibilities extended far beyond navigating yachts, encompassing onboard machinery and equipment, maintenance, crew operations, international logistics, customs, immigration, and the day-to-day responsibilities of operating privately owned yachts.
Throughout his career, Kevin has navigated more than 200,000 nautical miles, gaining firsthand experience in the challenges and responsibilities of yacht ownership.
He also served on new-yacht commissioning teams for two internationally recognized yacht builders, helping complete final equipment installations, prepare onboard systems, conduct sea trials, and ready newly built yachts for delivery to their owners.
In 2004, Kevin was hired directly by a superyacht owner to oversee construction of his new 105-foot yacht overseas, working alongside shipyard engineers on design, machinery placement, and equipment installations while protecting the owner's interests and reporting directly to him.
Over three decades, Kevin has participated in hundreds of yacht surveys, sea trials, and shipyard projects, working directly for yacht owners and developing an understanding of yachts that extends well beyond their appearance, specifications, or asking price. He entered yacht brokerage in 2020.
Today, as Founder of St. Clair Yachts, and St. Clair Superyachts, Kevin draws on three decades of hands-on experience to help yacht owners reduce ownership costs, avoid unnecessary expenses, and make informed decisions about maintaining, managing, buying, and selling your yacht.
His approach remains grounded in the same principle that has guided his career since 1997:
Protecting Your Interests As A Yacht Owner.

St. Clair Superyachts
Steven Gawith holds dual citizenship in the United States and United Kingdom, bringing an international perspective to his career in the yachting industry.
Steven began his yachting career at age 22 as a deckhand, working his way through the ranks to officer and eventually captain.
Over the following 16 years, Stephen gained extensive experience in yacht operations, crew management, maintenance, and guest services. He spent eight years commanding yachts up to 130 feet in length, developing firsthand knowledge of the responsibilities and challenges of yacht ownership.
His career has taken him throughout Europe, the Caribbean, and the East Coast of the United States, providing international experience across a variety of cruising destinations and operating environments.
After starting a family, Steven transitioned ashore into yacht refit management and brokerage, overseeing complex projects, coordinating shipyards and contractors, and working directly with technical teams to ensure vessels were completed to their owners' expectations.
This combination of experience at sea and in shipyards gives Steven a practical understanding of yacht condition, maintenance requirements, operating costs, and the factors that influence your yacht's long-term value.
Today, as a Licensed Yacht Broker with St. Clair Yachts and St. Clair Superyachts, Steven draws on his experience as a captain and refit manager to help you make informed decisions throughout yacht ownership, as well as when buying or selling your yacht.
His approach is grounded in firsthand experience, clear communication, and a commitment to protecting your interests.
